The perfect pre-sanding for floors

Every floor, whether old or new, needs a thorough sanding before treatment. The necessary equipment, including instructions, is available from special rental companies and is easy to use with a little practice.

Step by step instructions

Drive in protruding nails with a countersink before sanding.

Then start with the roller sander and, depending on the floor condition (old paint, adhesive residue, etc.), with more or less coarse sandpaper. Use the edge sander to sand off any remaining areas.

Repeat the sanding process with increasingly finer paper. Change to a single-disc sanding machine from grit size 100. Continue sanding until at least 120 grit. Always vacuum the dust thoroughly afterwards.

The preparation of your floor is now complete. However, intermediate sanding is still required for further treatment. Now you have the choice between oiling, waxing, varnishing or simply lye and soap.
